Hatha Yoga

What is Classical Hatha Yoga. It is the origin of yoga, that evolved in India thousands of years ago. Its name represents the sun being “ha” and the moon being”tha”, aiming to join or yoke the two.

Hatha yoga encompasses physical yoga postures, which seal and direct energy; breathing that enhances life force, creating a heathy mind and body; and, relaxation that encourages energy changes. Traditional physical postures known as asanas, were designed to open the many channels within the body creating balance, whilst allowing you to bring your attention to the breath and ease the fluctuations of the mind.

Hatha Yoga offers a key to remain centred amidst the turbulence of every day life; and, over time as you progress in your practice you come to understand that the essence of yoga is about deepening and understanding the interconnectedness of our mind, body and spirit.

I teach the ancient art of yoga within a relaxed friendly environment. My classes integrate the practice of asanas (yoga postures) with an emphasis on physical postural alignment, breathing techniques (pranayama), and relaxation (savasana). The postures are held for several breaths to allow a deeper opening in the facia, connective tissue and to stabilise the joints. My Naturopathic background and experience gives me a deep sound knowledge of anatomy and physiology, that enables me to guide you safely through your yoga practice regardless of your level, injuries, or illnesses. Coupling this guidance with the small class size means you will receive dedicated attention to achieve your goals. With regular practice, it will enable you to build strength and stamina, improve flexibility and foster peace and contentment.

Express Yoga Classes encompasses all of the above within a shorter time frame. It allows you to participate in a yoga class when you have limited time. It may also be suitable for children over the age 12 years, if they can focus comfortably within this time frame.
