My aim is to teach the ancient art of yoga within a relaxed modern environment. My Naturopathic background has given me a deep sound knowledge of anatomy and physiology which enables me to guide you safely through your yoga practice regardless of your level, injuries, or illnesses. Coupling this with the small class size you will receive dedicated attention to achieve your goals. The classes integrate the practice of asanas (yoga postures) with an emphasis on physical postural alignment, breathing techniques (pranayama), and relaxation (savasana). The postures are held for slightly longer, to allow a deeper opening in the facia, connective tissue and to stabilise the joints. With regular practice, it enables you to build strength and stamina, improve flexibility and foster peace and contentment.
The style is Classical Hatha Yoga, which first evolved thousands of years ago. It includes physical yoga postures, focus on the breath, relaxation and meditation. These traditional physical postures known as asanas, were designed to open the many channels within the body creating balance, whilst allowing you to bring your attention to the breath and ease the fluctuations of the mind. Hatha Yoga offers a key to remain centred amidst the turbulence of every day life; and, over time as you progress you come to understand that the essence of yoga is about deepening and understanding the interconnectedness of our mind, body and spirit.
Express Yoga Classes encompasses all of the above within a shorter time frame. It allows you to participate in a yoga class when you have limited time. It may also be suitable for children over the age 12 years, if they can focus comfortably within this time frame.
All the classes are multi-level which is suitable for both beginners and experienced students, with various postural options provided for each individual if needed.
